Financial Aid FAQs

Is financial aid available?

Yes, financial aid is available for those who qualify:

  • Online undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree may be eligible for Federal Student Aid programs (i.e. Pell Grants and Federal Direct Loans), assuming they meet all other eligibility criteria. Full-time New York state residents may also qualify for Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) funding and part-time New York state residents may qualify for Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS).
  • Online graduate students pursuing a Master’s degree or the Advanced Certificate in Applied Behavioral Analysis may be eligible for Federal Student Aid programs (i.e. Federal Direct Loans), assuming they meet all other eligibility criteria. Most graduate students only qualify for Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford loans, or Graduate PLUS loans.
  • Online students pursuing either an undergraduate certificate or an advanced certificate other than Applied Behavioral Analysis are not eligible for financial aid.

Does St. Joseph's University offer any institutional scholarships or grants to online students?

The 2024 - 2025 tuition for online students is only $780 per credit for undergraduate programs and $860 per credit for graduate programs (additional fees may apply). Since this rate is significantly lower than the rate charged to land-based students, no other institutional discounts are available. However, undergraduate students may be eligible for federal and state grants.
