Mary Jo Burke Chiara ’69, was a loyal and dedicated member of the St. Joseph’s University community. A proud graduate of St. Joseph’s College for Women, Mary Jo played an instrumental role in uniting generations of alumni, serving on the Brooklyn Alumni Board and chairing numerous reunions and events, including the 55th reunion of the Class of 1969. She helped establish the Class of 1969 Endowed Scholarship, raising over $350,000 to support female students at SJNY’s Brooklyn campus. In addition to her volunteer work, she worked for 16 years in the Office of Institutional Advancement, eventually serving as associate vice president of alumni relations. Mary Jo was known for her warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
