BROOKLYN and PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – March 25, 2019 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that Brennin Kroog ’09, investment banking director in the financial institutions group at Lazard Frères & Co. in Manhattan; and Michael Meyers ’08, Esq., partner at Petroske Riezenman & Meyers, P.C. in Hauppauge, have been appointed to the College’s Board of Trustees as young alumni trustees.
SJC’s young alumni trustees bring a unique voice to board discussions and meetings, as well as assist the board in developing areas for greater student impact opportunities. Most importantly, the young alumni trustees provide the full board with a perspective that is relatively current and informed by their experience as students and their knowledge of the needs, concerns and interests of the current generation of SJC students.
“These positions allow us to bring new members to the board who have a perspective that's closer to the student experience,” said Rory Shaffer-Walsh, vice president for institutional advancement. “We look forward to what Brennin and Michael will bring, which I’m sure will be a meaningful and high impact board experience for all of us involved.”
As an investment banking director at Lazard Frères & Co., Kroog works on mergers and acquisitions, and capital markets’ advisory assignments for a broad range of financial institutions and government agencies on a global basis. Kroog graduated from SJC in 2009 with a B.S. in Finance and Economics. He served as senior class president and was elected class valedictorian. Kroog also holds an M.B.A. from Yale University where he was a Silver Scholar and Brokaw Fellow, and has completed executive certificate work focused on artificial intelligence at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Kroog resides in Roslyn, New York, with his wife, Melissa ’09, and two children, Gavin and Avery.
A partner since January 2015, Meyers represent clients in all phases of child custody, child support, adoption and matrimonial actions at Petroske Riezenman & Meyers, P.C. Meyers graduated from SJC in 2008 with a B.A. in Political Science. He was a member of the Dean’s List, Dean’s Service Circle, Sigma Iota Chi Honor Society, Pi Gamma Mu Honor Society, Student Government Association, Sigma Xi Epsilon Fraternity and Drama Society. Meyers has served as a member of SJC’s Alumni Association since 2009, serving as president from 2014–2017; participated in the College’s 2016 presidential search and the 2017 vice president for institutional advancement search. He has received Long Island Business News’ Leaders in Law Award, Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers Rising Star Award and SJC’s St. Catherine Medal.
