SJC Earns Recognition as One of ‘America’s Best Colleges’

BROOKLYN AND PATCHOGUE, NY September 16, 2011 St. Josephs College was recently recognized by two prestigious publications as an outstanding college in the region under the category of Americas Best Colleges. For the last decade, SJC has been consistently named as one of the nations top colleges by
U.S. News & World Report this year placing it in the top half of the region in its 2012 rankings of Best Colleges while
Forbes Magazine ranked the College in its online issue of Americas Best Colleges for four years in a row.

With campuses in Brooklyn and Long Island, SJC was ranked in the top half of Regional Universities in the North by
U.S. News & World Report, which bases its annual rankings on graduation and retention rate, faculty resources, selectivity, faculty/student ratio and the assessment of each school from its peers. SJCs strong freshman retention rate and continuing dedication to highly personalized instruction, which is reflected in the 15:1 faculty/student ratio and small class sizes, helped secure the institutions place in the top-tier. This years rankings of Regional Universities, which offer a full range of undergraduate and graduate degrees, but only a few doctoral programs, are split into the four regions of the country.
The criteria for ranking in
Forbes was based on the average student debt at graduation, percentage of students graduating in four years and the number of students or faculty who win national competitive awards. St. Josephs College offers the lowest tuition of all top-tier private colleges on Long Island and is one of the most affordable private institutions in the tri-state area.
