SJC to Hold 29th Annual Scholarship Dinner

BROOKLYN AND PATCHOGUE, NY October 24, 2011 St. Josephs College will hold its 29th Annual Scholarship Dinner on Thursday, November 3 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails followed by dinner and dancing at 7:30 p.m. This years business affair will honor Erminia Rivera with the 2011 Distinguished Citizen award and Cheryl A. Felice 03, E.M.B.A. 08 with the 2011 Outstanding Alumna award. Proceeds from this event will benefit student scholarships.

"St. Josephs is delighted to honor these two extraordinary women who have made significant contributions in their professional lives, and more importantly, have made a real impact as leaders in their respective communities, said Vice President of Institutional Advancement Nancy Connors. "Both Erminia Rivera and Cheryl Felice are wonderful examples to our students and we are grateful for their ongoing support at the College.

President of the Suffolk County Association of Municipal Employees Benefit Fund, Cheryl Felice has been an employee of Suffolk County for 27 years. Most recently, she was appointed by Governor Andrew Cuomo to serve as a representative of New Yorks public sector/government unions on the Spending and Government Efficiency Commission to modernize state government, improve performance and increase accountability, with the goal of saving taxpayers money. Ms. Felice has received numerous accolades for her commitment to enhancing diversity in union representation, and was honored by both the Brookhaven Town Democratic Committee and March of Dimes as Labor Leader of the Year.

Erminia Rivera is a member of AM&G Waterproofing LLC ad Park Avenue Building and Roofing Supplies LLC, both family-owned businesses, which are prominent parts of the Brooklyn community and work with some of the largest public and private sector organizations in construction and real estate. A trustee of St. Josephs College, Ms. Rivera serves on the board of Maimonides Medical Center and HORIZONS Academic Enrichment Program at Brooklyn Friends School, an enrichment program for children of low-income families. In 2007, she and her family created the Gilbert Rivera Charitable Foundation in memory of her late husband.
