As you are aware, the College is preparing to move all academic activities off campus and to transition all class meetings to online delivery temporarily, if needed, as we respond to the Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 global pandemic.
During the week of March 23-27 (i.e., the extended break), some faculty may want to move fully to electronic instruction; that is strongly encouraged, when possible. All faculty should at a minimum send an email message to their students with a reading assignment or other activity for that week, and ready their courses to be delivered fully online starting the week after, if that is needed.
We have established a website called Carry On Teaching, Learning and Working to provide the College community with resources to support faculty, students and staff to maintain continuity of teaching, learning and campus operations. We encourage you to visit this site frequently as additional resources continue to be added.
Carry On Teaching provides information to support faculty in transitioning their class meetings to an online delivery. As our campus responds to the disruptions to college operations and instructional delivery caused by COVID-19, representatives from our Office of Information Technology Services are available to meet with academic departments and units to provide remote workshops and training on features in Canvas that support the following:
Visit the Faculty Training page to register for remote training workshops we are offering over the next several weeks.
If you have questions about how to deliver discipline-specific course content or activities, you can also consult with your chairperson or Executive Dean.
Carry On Learning provides resources to support students to successfully participate in their courses:
Carry On Working provides resources to support employees should they need to work from off campus:
If there are questions, faculty should feel free to contact the Executive Dean of your respective campus. Technical questions should be directed to the ITS Help Desk, [email protected], techhelp.sjcny.edu or 718-940-8324.
