2016 Inductees

GREGG ALFANO ’93

Baseball

Gregg was a four-year member of the baseball team, serving as team captain during his junior and senior seasons in 1991 and 1992. He ranked in the top 10 in program history in doubles (27), home runs (6), slugging percentage (.522) and RBI's (65). Gregg earned All-District 31 and All-Conference NAIA honors in 1992.

 

DANIELLE KAISER  ’02

Basketball

Danielle served as team captain and was selected as a Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second-Team All-Star in 2001-02. She was the second player in program history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark. Danielle ranked in the top 10 in program history for career steals (257), career points (1,015) and career three-pointers (108). 

 

JENNIFER MARTINEZ  ’08

Softball 

Jennifer holds or held 22 NCAA records, including career-earned run average (0.45). During her senior season in 2008, she was a Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American, ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American, a Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Atlantic Region selection and an ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-Region honoree. As a junior, Jennifer was a CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American and an All-District selection. Her teams won Skyline Conference titles in 2006 and 2008. The 2008 team was an NCAA Regional Tournament finalist in 2008. She graduated magna cum laude.

2014 Inductees

KRISTIN BIHARY LIEVRE ’03

Women’s Basketball

Kristin holds the program records for most career rebounds (1,119), most rebounds in a single season (350) and most rebounds in a single game (26). She averaged a program-best 13.0 rebounds-per-game and was a Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference First-Team selection in 2002-03. She ranks sixth all-time in career scoring (1,019 points) and third with 254 steals.

 

JENNIFER DEGENNARO LURIO ’95

Women’s Volleyball

Jennifer was a team captain and MVP who graduated with a College record for most service aces in a single season. She ranked second nationally among NAIA institutions in service aces. She was a Golden Eagle award recipient. 

 

BRYAN KNIPFING ’06

Cross Country and Track and Field

Bryan became the first male runner in program history to win a Skyline Conference cross country individual championship in 2004. He earned All-ECAC and Skyline All-Conference First-Team honors as a senior in 2005. Bryan held track and field program records in all events he participated in and still holds records in the 1,500 and 3,000-meter events.

 

2008 WOMEN'S SOFTBALL TEAM

After claiming the program's third Skyline Conference title in spring of 2008, the women’s softball squad became an NCAA Regional Tournament finalist. The team featured pitcher Jennifer Martinez, who was a Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American, ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American, a Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Atlantic Region selection and an ESPN the Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-Region honoree. 

 

2008 MEN'S CROSS-COUNTRY TEAM

This team captured the program's first-ever Skyline Conference championship, led by Eric Haun (3rd), Rich Adickes (4th) and Tyler Eckhoff (7th), who all earned Skyline All-Conference First-Team honors. Mike Buscemi (13th) and Alan Zollo (14th) appeared on the Second-Team.

STEPHEN DRURY '05
Men's Basketball

Two-time captain named team MVP each of his playing seasons. Scored 829 points and pulled down 429 rebounds in four years. Ranked among top 20 and top 10 respectively all-time.

 

 

MICHAEL LUZIM '04
Baseball

Stands as one of the NCAA Division III leaders in ERA at No. 10, with a 1.55 in the NCAA official record book.  Holds St. Joseph's University records in shutouts (5), innings pitched (232), strikeouts (191), wins (18) and complete games (21).

 

 

MICHELLE METELENIS '04
Women's Cross-Country

Two-time Skyline and WIAC Conference champion. Third woman to capture an individual championship for the Golden Eagles, and the first of only two females in program history to accomplish that feat twice. 

 

 

2002 WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM

Second-ever St. Joseph's squad to qualify for NCAA Division III Tournament. Final record of 23-5. Members named to All-Skyline Conference Team, All-WIAC Team and WIAC All-Tournament Team. Won the 2002 WIAC League Championship.

 

 

2006 WOMEN'S CROSS-COUNTRY TEAM

Skyline Champions. Members named to All-Skyline Conference. Set course records at Bethpage State Park, Williams College, Sunken Meadow Park, Bard College, DeSales College and Van Cortlandt Park.

Softball and Women’s Soccer

1996 softball team MVP, two-time captain. Holds record for stolen bases in a season. Set St. Joseph's University record with .603 batting average in 1996; 1995 women’s soccer team MVP  
1995 and 1996 All-IAC Conference; Captain for the 1996 IAC champions;1996 IAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Year.

Women’s Cross Country

Skyline Conference individual champion in 2000. Top runner for St. Joseph's University in every meet during her senior year. Member of Skyline Championship Team in 1999 and 2000

 

 

BRIAN LYNCH '96
Baseball

Four-year starter with a career .338 batting average and 142 hits; Early program leader in multiple offensive categories. Member of 1994 NAIA District 31 Championship Team; 1995 NAIA All-District 31 team. 1996 team captain and team MVP; 1996 Knickerbocker and All-Independent Conference Team

 

 

MICHAEL REICHERT '04
Men’s Soccer

Top defensive player in the history of the program; Four-year starter as a midfielder and defender. Unprecedented three-time team captain; 2003 All-Skyline Team and team MVP. 2003 NSCAA Division III All-Metro Region Team; 10 goals and 16 assists (36 points) in 72 career games.

 

 

TIMOTHY TRAVA
Men’s Soccer and Basketball

Greatest goal scorer in men’s soccer program history; 2002 NCAA Division III Points Per Game Champion. Among NCAA career leaders in goals scored (88), goals per game (1.24), total points (199) and points per game (2.80). 2002 and 2003 NSCAA DIII All-American Metro Region First Team; Multiple-time Skyline All-Conference Team selection. 2003 team captain; four-year men’s basketball player and team captain in 2003-2004; among program leaders in three-pointers and steals.

 

 

1993 WOMEN'S TENNIS TEAM

Won first and only women’s tennis championship to date. Played at NAIA Nationals in Tulsa, Okla.

 

 

1994 BASEBALL TEAM

1994 NAIA District 31/CACC Champions. Won program’s first conference championship. Earned program’s first trip to the NAIA Regional Round. Program record .337 team batting average and 22 wins. Featured two All-District 31 players, an NAIA All-Region and Honorable Mention All-American player, and the NAIA District 31 Coach of the Year.

CHARLIE CAPUTO '90
Baseball

Leader in triples, runs batted in, home runs, steals and total bases. 1990 NAIA All-District, 1990 Exceptional Senior. Helped Eagles to first playoff appearance. Team MVP in 1989, two-time captain.

 

 

PETER MANGER '92
Baseball and Basketball

Four-year player for baseball and basketball. Among career leaders in basketball scoring with 1,100 points. Team MVP during junior and senior years for basketball. Two-time captain on both teams.

 

 

JAMES MCCORMACK '89
Basketball

Third St. Joseph's University player to reach 1,000 points. Program's all-time assists leader with 531. Two-time MVP of the St. Joseph's University Invitational Tournament. Helped lead team to first NAIA playoff appearance.

 

 

MIKE SYMANCYK '01
Soccer

Record holder for assists in a career with 47. Four-time Hudson Valley All-Conference selection, 1999 All-Skyline. Among program leaders in career points, goals, points in a season, goals in a season and assists in a season. 1999 Team MVP. Member of team that went to ECAC Tournament for first time and reached the finals.

 

 

2006 WOMEN'S SOFTBALL TEAM

First team in St. Joseph's University history to win a game in the NCAA Championship Tournament. 2006 Skyline Champions (23-11, 11-4 Skyline). Four All-Skyline players. 2006 Skyline Coaching Staff of the Year. Boasted record-breaking pitcher Jennifer Martinez (2006 ECAC and Skyline Conference Pitcher of the Year). Eliminated two teams from NCAA Tournament.

CHRISTOPHER ALFANO '93
Baseball

Team MVP - 1991 and 1992, team Captain - 1991 and 1992, long-time record holder for runs and doubles, former career leader in average, hits, homers, triples and total bases, two-time NAIA All-District 31 Team, lead St. Joseph's University to two District 31 Finals.

 

EDWARD BARBANTE '01
Men's Soccer

Goalkeeper with three year record 46-12-4, 1.03 career goals per game average, 0.95 goals against average in 1999, team MVP 1998, team captain 199, HVMAC All-Conference 1998, HVMAC MVP 1999, All-Skyline Second Team 1999.

Equestrian

Founder of the Equestrian program in 1987, long-time coach of 23 years, built a highly-successful program that competes with Division I, II & II teams, led tw0o IHSA Regional championship teams in 2001 and 2010.

 

ALLYSON WOLFF '02
Softball, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball

Our only three-sport, four-year athlete, seven NCAA Statistical Championships in four categories, NCAA Champion in Runs and Runs per Game (2.6 - NCAA Record) in '98, Tied NCAA Record for runs (7) in a game - 4/18/1998, Member of our first NCAA Tournament team (Softball 2000), career softball leader in stolen bases and runs and two-time MVP.

 

1992 MEN'S TENNIS TEAM

1992 NAIA District 31 Champions, first St. Josephs' College team to compete in the NAIA National Tournament, District Champion and National contender in inaugural season.

 

2004 BASEBALL TEAM

First St. Joseph's University Baseball Team to make the NCAA Tournament, 2004 Skyline Champions (26-18, 16-4 SKY), four All-NY Region, three All-Skyline and one NCAA All-Tournament Player, 2004 Skyline Pitcher and Coach of the Year.

Men’s Tennis

NAIA District 31 singles and doubles champion in 1992 and 1993. Represented St. Joseph's University in NAIA National Tournament. Basketball: Holds record for three-pointers made in a season. Among career leaders in points scored and three-pointers made.

 

 

BERNARD HOYT ’95
Baseball

First St. Joseph's University player to sign a professional baseball contract. Ranked in the top tier in multiple record categories at here. Team MVP 1994. 1994 All-District, All-Region, Honorable Mention All-American.

 

 

COACH GARY SMITH
Men's Soccer

Our first softball coach (1989-2004). Our first men’s soccer coach (1986-present). More than 500 combined wins. Coached the first St. Josephs' College team (softball) to reach NCAA Tournament (2000). Coached the first men’s soccer team to reach NCAA Tournament (2008). Only coach to take two different programs to the NCAA Tournament.

 

 

1991 MEN’S SOCCER

1991 NAIA District 31 Champions. Regional finalists in NAIA. National Championship. First men’s soccer championship team.

 

 

2001 EQUESTRIAN

2001 Intercollegiate. Horse Show Association regional champions. Only small school to win a regional title since. IHSA’s inception in 1967.

Men's Basketball

Former men's basketball career scoring leader with 1,577 points. David Acree surpassed his mark in 2009.

 

 

FRANK MULZOFF

Founding father of the Long Island Campus athletic program. The campus' first athletic director and first men's basketball coach.

 

 

2000 LADY GOLDEN EAGLE SOFTBALL

First St. Josph's College team to compete in the NCAA Championship Tournament, 2000 Skyline Champions (10-0) and 2000 WIAC champions.
