Bio

Dr. Frank Antonawich completed his undergraduate training at the University of Rochester, earned a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from New York University and completed his post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Neurology at Stony Brook University. He is a professor of biology at St. Joseph’s University, New York, as well as the chair of the biology department. Dr. Antonawich serves as a senior scientist and the clinical research administrator at Garnett McKeen Laboratory Inc. in Bohemia, New York.

Scholarly & Professional Interests

Dr. Antonawich's research focuses on ischemia, stroke, neoplasia, apoptosis, neuroendocrinology, stem cells and metabolic dysfunction/disease. His most recent publication examines the cellular and molecular benefits of the palladium lipoic acid complex (Poly MVA) on the energy and antioxidant status of the aged brain. Recent collaborative work has examined vascular remodeling and anti-inflammatory effects of a novel organometallic complex in lungs exposed to Iraqi burn pit dust.
