Bio

Dr. Maria Fletcher has worked extensively in many areas of nursing, including public health and maternal and child health, and has been an instructor at St. Joseph’s University, New York since 1989, assuming increasing responsibility in the Department of Nursing, while serving on multiple committees and task forces at the University. Dr. Fletcher currently serves as Associate Dean for Nursing of the Department of Nursing for both the Brooklyn and Long Island campuses, overseeing all undergraduate and graduate programs.

Dr. Fletcher is involved in community service and served for 11 years on the Boards of Education for the Valley Stream School District 30 and Valley Stream Central High School District. She also volunteered and served as President of the New York State Parent Teacher Association (PTA) at the local, regional and state levels, in addition to serving as an appointed member of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s New York Rising Community Reconstruction Program Planning Committee. Dr. Fletcher currently serves as the Treasurer of the New York State Council of Deans and Directors of Baccalaureate and Higher Degree Nursing Programs. She is a graduate of Hunter College, New York University and Adelphi University.
