The Application Systems Administrator I is part of the Enterprise Systems team responsible for supporting the services, systems, and applications that maintain the operational integrity of St. Joseph’s University technologies. This position provides support to the administrative and academic systems and processes while managing the implementation of application software versions, ensuring the long-term stability of applications, and working closely with the ITS management to assess needs, evaluate options, and implement solutions to support daily operations and strategic initiatives of the university.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain application environments including patches and upgrades on test and production systems.
  • Work with the university community to assess institutional needs and develop, test, and implement appropriate solutions to address their needs.
  • Manage email accounts, mailing lists, and general-purpose mailboxes.
  • Administer Google Workspace including Google Vault Spam/Virus protection services.
  • Support Transact Mobile Credentials and Access Control systems.
  • Monitor system performance of Ellucian Colleague ERP system.
  • Implement, administer and maintain custom integration of data exchanges between enterprise systems applications.
  • Design, develop, and support automated processes to facilitate integration with 3rd party interfaces.
  • Develop and maintain system and process documentation.
  • Gather requirements, scope of data, and reporting needs from functional users.
  • Troubleshoot and solve system/software issues.
  • When system changes occur, document new workflows and processes.
  • Create end-user documentation and train administrative staff where appropriate.
  • Provide after-hours support for application-related emergencies as well as occasional scheduled weekend work.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Experience in a higher education organization.
  • Knowledge of and experience with current technology and practices and system administration including application and security principles.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent problem-solving/analytical skills, knowledge of complex troubleshooting methods, and the ability to work through ambiguous work situations.
  • Knowledge of Google Workspace Administration or other cloud-hosted email providers/platforms.
  • Must have a strong customer service attitude, be highly motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • Exposure to programming languages:
    • Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, Microsoft SQL Server, Powershell.
  • Familiarity with the implementation of ITIL Framework.

Salary: $62,400
