St. Joseph’s University seeks a full time Financial Aid Counselor for the Office of Financial Aid at its Brooklyn campus.  Under the supervision of the Director and Associate Director of Financial Aid, the Financial Aid Counselor will provide excellent customer service and assistance to a diverse population of students, staff and faculty.  In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing financial aid applications, performing verification and preparing financial aid offers.

Responsibilities

  • Counseling students and their families about financial aid options
  • Packaging students with financial aid
  • Maintaining student files and completing verification
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations
  • Representing the Office of Financial Aid at various recruitment events
  • Conducting presentations at on and off campus events
  • Assisting the Director and Associate Director with special projects
  • Administrative duties to include greeting students and visitors at the front desk, covering the main phone line when necessary, scanning documents into imaging system and monitoring levels of supplies
  • Other various duties as assigned by the Director and Associate Director

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Must have a demonstrated passion for maximizing efficiency
  • Must be highly organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Additional Information and Application Process

The position is a full time, Monday through Friday position; however some evening and/or weekend hours are required during peak processing times or for recruitment/outreach events.  Periodic travel for professional development and training will also be necessary.  This position may require occasional travel to the Long Island campus when needed.

Annual salary: $40,000 - $45,000
