PATCHOGUE, N.Y. FEBRUARY 28, 2013 St. Josephs College (SJC), will host an all-day workshop providing future educators with the opportunity to learn about conservation and environmental education from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation on Saturday, March 2. The second annual Project Wild workshop will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Shea Conference Center on the Long Island Campus of SJC.
"This important and worthwhile environmental education workshop provides attendees with excellent ideas for implementation in elementary classrooms, said S. Mary Ann Cashin, chair of the Department of Child Study at SJC. "Each attendee will leave the workshop with a book of lesson plans for all grade levels and a heightened awareness of ecological issues.
The Project Wild workshop will be presented by Ronald Gelardi, regional environmental education coordinator for the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, to SJC students free of charge. The workshop will include lessons and activities intended to teach wildlife-based conservation and environmental education to future educators and community leaders, with the aim of promoting responsible actions toward wildlife and natural resources.
"I would love to attend more of their workshops, as they are full of so many great ideas that can be incorporated into the classroom, said Dana Fregosi 13, child study major at SJC.
