PATCHOGUE, NY DECEMBER 4, 2012 St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that Peter Mascuch, Ph.D., associate professor of English, was featured as an Alfred Hitchcock expert on a recent podcast about the 2012 feature film,
Hitchcock.
Featured on-air and online, the podcast is titled "The Takeaway Movie Date. It is a weekly show produced by Public Radio International and WNYC Radio in collaboration with
The New York Times and WGBH Boston, about movies co-hosted by Kristen Meinzer and
Newsday film critic Rafer Guzman. Dr. Mascuch was invited on the show to discuss the portrayal of Alfred Hitchcock in the upcoming film,
Hitchcock.
"Ive listened to these radio programs all of my adult life and I constantly encourage my students to do the same, Dr. Mascuch said. "It was a wonderful experience to participate in one of its programs and Alfred Hitchcock continues to be a fascinating subject for scholars, critics and all movie-lovers.
Released in November 2012,
Hitchcock is a biographical drama based on Stephen Rebello's non-fiction book
Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho. Directed by Sacha Gervasi, the movie focuses on the relationship between director Alfred Hitchcock and his wife Alma Reville during the making of the Oscar-nominated suspense/horror film
Psycho, which was originally released in 1960.
An associate professor of English and American studies and coordinator of the film/media studies program at SJC, Dr. Mascuch is a member of the Society for Cinema Studies, American Culture Association and Literature/Film Association. A member of the SJC faculty since 2003, he received his B.F.A. in Film Studies and Production from New York University and his M.Ph. and Ph.D. in English from City University of New York.
