Renowned Artist Faith Ringgold to Visit SJC Long Island

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – September 18, 2015 – The Council for the Arts and the Office of Multicultural Student Life at SJC Long Island will host a series of events featuring the work of African-American author and artist Faith Ringgold. 

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the SJC students and community to meet a pioneer like Faith Ringgold,” said Anna Malzone, director of the Council for the Arts at SJC Long Island. “We feel honored to have one of the greatest artists of our time visiting our campus.”

From October 4 to November 6, Ringgold’s limited-edition lithographs, serigraphs, color etchings and silkscreen prints will be on exhibit in the Board Room Gallery of O’Connor Hall. 

In addition, a screening of The Last Story Quilt, a short documentary film about Ringgold, will take place on Wednesday, October 14 at 1 p.m. in the Shea Conference Room. Ringgold will also host a book signing and meet and greet on Thursday, October 15 at 12:30 p.m. in the Board Room Gallery.
