PATCHOGUE, N.Y. JANUARY 23, 2013 St. Josephs College (SJC) President S. Elizabeth A. Hill, C.S.J., J.D., was recently listed as one of the top three Best College Presidents on Long Island in the Long Island Press eighth annual "Bethpage Best of Long Island competition.
Accompanying S. Elizabeth on the list was Dr. Samuel L. Stanley, Jr., president of Stony Brook University, who placed first and Dr. Robert A. Scott, president of Adelphi University, who placed second.
"I am honored to be recognized alongside my outstanding colleagues as one of Long Islands top presidents by the readers of the Long Island Press, said SJC President S. Elizabeth Hill. "As we begin the journey toward our centennial in 2016, we continue to celebrate the honor and tradition of SJC while focusing on the growing strength of our future.
The Long Island Press newspaper has been polling Long Island about the "Best of for the past eight years. This year was the biggest Bethpage Best of L.I. poll with more than 79 new categories added to the list of more than 360. The categories are organized into their corresponding sections, which include Arts & Entertainment, Automotive, Clothing, Education, Food & Drink, Health & Wellness, Home & Garden, Nightlife, Restaurants, Pets, Services, Shopping, Sports, and Weddings. In previous years, S. Elizabeth has been honored by a number of organizations, including the American Association of University Women; Advancement for Commerce, Industry & Technology (ACIT); The Long Island Association (LIA); Temple Beth El; the Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc.; the NAACP Long Island Coalition of Branches; and most recently, Home Reporter newspaper, The Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations, The Nassau and Suffolk Womens Bar Associations and The Partnership to Advance Women Leaders (PAWL). She is also a three-time recipient of Long Island Business News' Top 50 Women award for her consistent record as one of the regions most important and influential women, making her a Hall of Fame Honoree.
