SJC ADDS FIVE-YEAR PROGRAM IN CHILD STUDY AND LITERACY AND COGNITION TO OFFERINGS

March 15, 2022

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – March 15, 2022 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce the addition of a five-year pathway program that combines a B.A. in Child Study with an M.A. in Literacy and Cognition. SJC’s Department of Child Study and Graduate Program in Literacy and Cognition designed the new program to offer students a pathway to complete both degrees in five years.

“We are pleased to offer this five-year program to students,” said Eileen White Jahn, Ph.D., executive dean of SJC Long Island. “We believe that students will graduate this program with a deep understanding of how to help children struggling with their reading skills. We have been preparing the best and brightest educators for 106 years and this program allows us to prepare even more future educators and leaders.”

By combining a Child Study degree with a master’s degree in Literacy and Cognition, students hone in on their desire to make a difference in children’s lives by helping them with their reading capabilities. This program provides students with current practices and classroom experience. SJC’s teaching programs consistently rank among the best teaching programs in the New York metropolitan area.
