Patchogue, N.Y. – January 16, 2015 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that Gail Lamberta, Ph.D., associate dean, professor and chairperson for the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies at SJC, has been named to Leadership Huntington’s Flagship Program for 2015. Dr. Lamberta is also the coordinator of experiential learning for both campuses of SJC.
Leadership Huntington Training Program is an educational program that engages and inspires citizens to embrace community trusteeship by providing the skills and tools to advance personal, professional and community goals. Participants will work with community leaders, build their leadership skill sets, create partnerships between the public and private sectors, increase involvement in community affairs and learn through interactivity. The class of 2015 will begin their nine-month training with a kick-off celebration, after which they will attend opening and closing retreats, participate in full-day workshops and graduate upon completion. Since 1995, Leadership Huntington has trained more than 275 professionals.
“I am honored to have been chosen to be a part of the Huntington Leadership Flagship Program’s class of 2015,” said Dr. Lamberta. “I am looking forward to participating in the various workshops that aim to enhance one’s leadership skills while addressing current issues and seeking solutions to those issues within our community.”
As a leader in her field, Dr. Lamberta participates in the National College Credit Recommendation Service and serves as president of the Long Island Leisure Services Association. She also sits on the Long Island Convention and Visitors Bureau board of directors and is the co-founder of the Blue Stars and Yellow Ribbons Veterans Initiative at SJC.
