Patchogue, N.Y. – January 15, 2015 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that S. Jane Fritz, C.S.J., professor of mathematics and computer science on the Long Island Campus, was recently invited to speak at the Long Island Visual Professionals (LIVP) meeting at the Long Island Children's Museum in Garden City, New York.
As the January sponsor for LIVP’s meeting, SJC’s Department of Mathematics and Computer Science was highlighted in a presentation by S. Jane Fritz. She presented the various aspects of the computer and information technology (CIT) major and its new concentration in healthcare information management. The keynote presentation for the meeting, “A Behind the Scenes Look at the Art of Computer-Generated Feature Films” was given by Keith Stichweh from Blue Sky Studios. Stichweh is a character animator who worked on such feature films as Finding Nemo, Ice Age, Wall-E, The Incredibles and Rio.
“The Long Island Visual Professionals is a relatively new group of very creative and talented people,” said S. Jane Fritz. “SJC was able to present and discuss our best kept secret—our strong computer majors, which include computer graphics and animation, as well as our new major in journalism and new media. The audience was very responsive and interested in a wide range of visual topics. This event could be the beginning of a dynamic collaboration among those currently working in visual fields, such as web design, programming, digital film making and digital media, and our strong course offerings in those disciplines.”
