PATCHOGUE, N.Y. SEPTEMBER 17, 2013 St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it will honor one alumna and two current students for their service to the College at this years Honors Convocation on October 10 on the Long Island Campus.
Alumna Laurie Lanteri-Wolfe 03 will receive the Saint Catherine Medal for Student Achievement, an annual award that honors an individual, chosen by faculty, who represents the high ideals of a Catholic college education. Now an active member of the St. Josephs College Alumni Association, Lanteri-Wolfe was an executive member of the Campus Activities Board while earning a B.S. in Business Administration at SJCs Long Island Campus. She currently works as an Operations Manager at Capital One Bank and is the Independent Founding Designer of Mialisia Jewelry.
"Since 2001, the College has been awarding the Saint Catherine Medal to alumni who have demonstrated leadership and service, said Paige Napoli Carbone 02, director of Alumni Relations at SJC. "We are so excited to present the award this year to Laurie Lanteri-Wolfe. Laurie was a leader during her days at SJC and continues to be a leader in her field today."
Also being honored are seniors Carl Baurle 14 and Nina Franza 14, who will each receive the Thomas J. Wendt 88 Alumni Scholarship, named for the former employee and alumnus who was dedicated to volunteerism and charitable causes. After Wendts passing in 2004, SJC established a memorial scholarship in his name to benefit students who play an active part in the College and the surrounding community.
Baurle, a mathematics and computer science major, is treasurer of the Student Government Association. Franza, a psychology major, is an executive member of the Campus Activities Board who recently spent three weeks studying abroad at Oxford University in Oxford, England with students and faculty from SJC, as part of an intellectual study program led by Christopher Frost, Ph.D., academic dean of SJCs Long Island Campus.
