SJC Hosts Annual Teaching for Tomorrow Conference

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – June 3, 2016 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) was pleased to welcome more than 130 devoted educators from across Long Island for the New York State Middle School Association’s (NYSMSA) Fourth Annual Teaching for Tomorrow Middle-Level Conference. The annual conference provides premier professional development workshops given by top teaching professionals, administrators and educational consultants. 

“This joint conference provides the collegial opportunity to share innovative teaching practices,” said Shawn Robertson, Ed.D., associate professor of child study at SJC Long Island. “It has become a premiere event that features state and nationally recognized schools. St. Joseph's College is proud to connect educators in an effort to assist in providing affordable, practical, professional development for teachers and administrators across Long Island.”

More than 20 workshops were offered on current topics such as cyberbullying, STEAM, technology in teaching, creative teaching and effective teaching practices. SJC students attended the event and made valuable connections with administrators from the region. 

NYSMSA represents those who serve the educational needs of all young adolescents in New York State. They are committed to creating, promoting and supporting effective middle-level programs that are academically rigorous and developmentally responsive.
