SJC Long Island Welcomes SAGE Dining Services

Patchogue, N.Y. – August 28, 2015 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it has partnered with SAGE Dining Services, Inc. ® to provide on-campus dining and catering services at its Long Island location beginning fall 2015. Home to the Golden Eagles, SJC Long Island will welcome students back to a newly renovated Eagle’s Nest cafeteria as part of its ongoing summer beautification plans. A secondary dining area, the Eagle’s Perch, which will feature a Starbuck’s Café, will be available on campus later in the semester.

“We want to provide our students with the best college experience, and that includes their dining options on campus,” said Jack P. Calareso, Ph.D., president of SJC. “Our partnership with SAGE allows for great-tasting, nutritional options for our students, faculty and staff, while also offering sustainable and local ingredients that reflect our responsibility as an ecologically responsible institution. In addition, we are expanding our food service operation to provide more opportunities and variety.”

Individually owned and operated, SAGE Dining Services was founded in 1990 by Paco Rodriquez, Tina Rodriguez and Ken Pensalfini. SAGE provides independent schools and colleges with custom menu items utilizing as much local product as they can.

“We're excited to bring the SAGE program to SJC Long Island,” said Paco Rodriquez, president of SAGE Dining Services, Inc. “Our philosophy is simple: we're about real, made-from-scratch food. We use fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Every student, no matter if they are the first or last in line, is assured a quality meal. The addition of a state-of-the-art Heartland Point-of-Sale (POS) system will also be featured as part of these new changes. The new POS debit card system, which will allow students, faculty and staff to create individual accounts through their smart phones and the OneCard application, can be used to conveniently purchase food and beverages at both the Nest and Perch.
