PATCHOGUE, N.Y. APRIL 1, 2014 The Department of Psychology at St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that Thomas Kelly 14 received the Psi Chi Eastern Regional Research Award at the Eastern Psychological Associations annual meeting hosted at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Towers in Boston, Mass. from March 13-16.
In addition to his extensive participation in research, Kelly participated in an applied internship at Child Protective Services and studied abroad in Oxford, England during his years at SJC. He has been accepted into St. Johns University and was offered a scholarship for the School Psychology Psy.D. Program.
"As his adviser, I could not be more proud of Toms [Kelly] accomplishments, said Dominique Treboux, Ph.D., professor of psychology at SJC. "The award reflects Tom's strong intellectual abilities, motivation and character, as well as the unique opportunities that St. Joseph's can offer its students.
In addition to Kelly, 13 SJC students presented research papers at the event, that included topics such as Stress Responses to Super Storm Sandy; Reliability and Validity of Mobile Heart Rate Applications; Examining Gender Differences on Final Grade, Homework and Self-Regulatory Behaviors and Romantic Relationships of Young Adults with Down Syndrome.
The Eastern Psychological Association (EPA) was founded in 1896 and is the oldest of the regional Psychological Associations in the United States. Its sole purpose is to advance the science and profession through the dissemination of professional information about the field of psychology. EPA achieves this goal by conducting its annual meeting where the members of EPA present the latest advances in professional and scientific work to their colleagues.
