SJC to Host Careers in Human Services Event

February 10, 2014

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. FEBRUARY 11, 2014 St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it will host a Careers in Human Services event on Thursday, March 13 from 6-8 p.m. in the McGann Conference Center located on its Long Island Campus.

Featured panelists of the event include SJC alumni who will offer insight into careers in the human services field, such as social work, assisted living and long-term care, civil service, military, non-profits and gerontology.

"With the news saturated by accounts of rising heroin addiction, homelessness, unemployment and veterans' issues, it is only fitting that the College shows how a degree in human services leads to rewarding careers and jobs on the front lines, said Carolyn Gallogly, Ph.D., associate professor of human services at SJC. "This event features our own alumni and we are so proud of them, because they are truly doing what matters.

Panelists include Robin Smith 08, LMSW, program director of Pollack Gardens; Delaila Orama 09 from the Family Service League; Wilson Montoya 09 from the Suffolk County Department of Social Services and Jaycey Anderson 11 from the Long Island Association for AIDS Care (LIAAC). The event will be moderated by JoAnne Durovich, MSW, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Human Services at SJC.

This event is free and open to the public. Register online or contact Carolyn Gallogly at 631.687.1242 or [email protected].

SJC is located at 155 W. Roe Blvd. in Patchogue, and is accessible via the South Service Road of Sunrise Highway, just east of Exit 52 (Waverly Ave.).
