PATCHOGUE, N.Y. MARCH 4, 2014 St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it will offer a series of entrepreneurship and small business training seminars this spring. Hosted by distinguished business professionals, the seminars will focus on using social media as a marketing tool, hiring tactics, everyday business writing and creating a social media plan.
"The College has created a series of free monthly workshops designed to meet the needs of entrepreneurs who are in the early stages of developing viable businesses within the community, said Gail Lamberta, Ph.D., associate academic dean on the Long Island Campus of SJC. "We are excited to be a part of this initiative that will lend support and guidance for entrepreneurs as they create and grow their new businesses.
SJC Entrepreneurship and Small Business Training Seminar Series includes:
Tuesday, March 25 - Basics of Using Social Media to Grow Your Business, presented by MJ Robinson, Ph.D., associate chair of the Department of Journalism and New Media Studies at SJC. This mini workshop will explore using Instagram and Twitter as a tool to market, inform and reach greater audiences.
Tuesday, April 29 - Basics of Hiring the Right Employee, presented by Elena Dundon, M.S., Executive M.B.A., lecturer at SJC. This workshop is geared to help small business owners navigate through the ins and outs of seeking and hiring talented and skilled employees.
Wednesday, May 28 - Take Charge of Your Business Emails, presented by Richard Kantro, writer, editor, webmaster and IT project manager. This mini workshop helps you stay balanced in your everyday business writing, intended to help you avoid the pitfalls that can occur.
Wednesday, June 18 - Developing a Social Media Plan for Your Business, presented by Brian Wasson, training specialist at SJC and an educational technology enthusiast who has been helping educators, adults and students integrate technology into their work and professional lives for the past 18 years. This workshop helps teach how to set up a social media strategy for your business that will include defining your audience, using various social media sites and tools, creating engaging content and setting and measuring your social media goals.
