SJC to Host Leadership Competition for High School Students

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. NOVEMBER 8, 2013 St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it will host the Young Professionals Chamber of Commerces (YPCC) 11th Annual Business Leadership Competition on its Long Island Campus in Patchogue. The full-day competition will take place on Wednesday, December 4 beginning at 8 a.m.

The annual competition challenges high school students to demonstrate their knowledge of categories including fashion marketing, hospitality services, advertising, graphic design, travel and tourism, entertainment marketing, sports management, sports marketing, not-for-profit fundraising, entrepreneurship and job interview skills.

"SJC is excited to partner with the YPCC and Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce in providing over 300 high school students with a day of competition on our L.I. Campus, said Gail Lamberta, Ph.D., associate academic dean of SJCs Long Island Campus. "As a higher education institution, SJC supports this unique program that encourages educational interaction and participation that will provide these students with opportunities to practice and apply ideas and skills that foster professional and intellectual maturity.

The YPCC is a division of the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce. The YPCC engages high school and college students and young entrepreneurs in the Long Island community by enhancing their leadership skills in a professional environment. The YPCC is a student-run membership organization, with activities led by students, educators and business leaders working together.
