SJC to Host Women’s Health Care Event

Patchogue, N.Y. – The Institute for Community Health and Wellness at St. Joseph’s College (SJC) and Gerontology Professionals of Long Island will host the event, Cutting Edge Issues in Older Women's Health Care: Keeping Us Heart Healthy and Strong, on Wednesday, April 6, at 6:30 p.m. in the McGann Conference Center at SJC Long Island.

The event will focus on some of the health concerns of older women and feature a panel discussion with Dr. Michelle Caccavano from the Department of Nursing at SJC and Dawn Blatt, PT, MA, DPT, director of clinical education and clinical assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Stony Brook University. The panel will be moderated by Dr. Carolyn Gallogly, gerontologist and associate professor in the Department of Human Services at SJC.

“Staying current with health care options is challenging at any age, but even more so as we grow older,” said Dr. Gallogly. “Communicating with our health care providers about these options is one of the critical skills necessary for healthy aging, and this seminar addresses those skills.”
