ST. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE AWARDED FUNDS FOR INSTITUTE FOR ATTAINABLE HOMES

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – January 10, 2018 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $40,000 grant from the Long Island Community Foundation (LICF) to fund research, policy and advocacy for affordable housing on Long Island. 

In recent years, the College has been awarded additional grants from LICF of more than $60,000 to establish the Institute for Attainable Homes, part of the Center for Community Solutions at St. Joseph’s College; create a strategic plan; and work closely with its stakeholder organizations. Since its founding, the Institute has been working to increase access to fair and affordable housing throughout Long Island. 

“All of us at SJC are proud to continue our work with LICF and our various community partners through the Institute for Attainable Homes,” said Jo Anne Durovich, Ph.D., director of SJC’s Institute for Attainable Homes. “Our work for the coming year will focus on increasing the availability of affordable and accessible housing for all Long Islanders through education, information and advocacy. We will accomplish this through our work with LICF and our stakeholders, and we look forward to continuing to be a resource for all Long Islanders seeking to better understand and address Long Island's current housing crisis.” 

LICF enhances the well-being of the people and communities of Long Island by providing leadership in the identification of current and future community needs; strengthening the capacity of the Island’s not-for-profit sector to respond to community needs; offering comprehensive services to donors and working cooperatively with others seeking to encourage philanthropy on Long Island.
