ST. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE RECEIVES MILITARY FRIENDLY® GOLD DESIGNATION

BROOKLYN and PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – February 14, 2020 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it has received the 2020 Military Friendly® Gold designation, recognizing the College as one of the best colleges for service members and veterans. In addition, SJC is the only private institution in New York to receive this designation.

“The SJC community is beyond proud of our veteran and military students for all they have accomplished in life before they even walk through our doors,” said SJC President Donald R. Boomgaarden, Ph.D. “We are committed to providing them with the best services to help them excel in this next chapter of their lives. We congratulate the other schools who have also been recognized and hope to continue the important work that we all do for veteran and military students.”

Institutions earning the Military Friendly® School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey completed by the school. Categories for evaluation included military student support and retention; academic policies and compliance; admissions and orientation; culture and commitment; financial aid and assistance; and graduation and career outcomes. More than 1,000 schools participated in the 2020-2021 survey.

“We are honored to be awarded the Military Friendly® Gold designation,” said Erin D’Eletto, SJC’s director of military and veterans services. “As our military-affiliated students enhance our college community in countless ways, we are privileged to assist them in their transition from military to civilian life, and to support their personal, academic and professional success.”

The Military Friendly® Schools list is created each year based on extensive research using public data sources for more than 8,800 schools nationwide and responses to the proprietary, data-driven Military Friendly® Schools survey performed by Ernst & Young. SJC’s dedicated Office of Military and Veteran Services provides veteran and military students with the necessary resources that lead to academic success.
