PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – March 23, 2016 – The public libraries of Suffolk County, in conjunction with St. Joseph’s College (SJC), will host an all-day young adult author event on Saturday, April 16, providing tweens and teens with the opportunity to connect with their favorite writers and learn about their favorite characters. The fifth Authors Unlimited will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in O’Connor Hall at SJC Long Island in Patchogue, New York.
“It is encouraging for the public and school librarians who work so hard to foster a love of reading and an appreciation of good writing, to see middle and high school students eager to meet authors in person,” said Dr. Elizabeth Pollicino Murphy, executive director of libraries at SJC. “The partnership that has evolved between SJC and the public librarians of Suffolk County is a collaborative endeavor that we look forward to each year.”
The event will begin with a Q&A panel with the young adult authors. Attendees will also have the opportunity to interact with the authors in three breakout sessions throughout the day. Several of the award-winning young adult authors scheduled to appear throughout the day include George O’Connor, Max Brallier, Sarah Beth Durst, Kara Thomas, Kat Yeh, Chris Grabenstein, Jennifer E. Smith and Adam Silvera.
This event is free and open to the public, with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m. Attendees, sixth grade and up, can preregister for the event online to bypass the registration line on the day of the event. Books will be sold by SJC Barnes & Noble with an autograph session at 2 p.m. Lunch and refreshments will be available for purchase in the College’s cafeteria. Author and book information can be found at authorsunlimited.org.
SJC Long Island is located at 155 W. Roe Blvd. in Patchogue. Parking is accessible via the South Service Road of Sunrise Highway, just east of Exit 52 (Waverly Avenue).
