SJC to Host Criminology Talk

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. March 26, 2010 The Criminal Justice Club at St. Josephs College will present the lecture, The Innocence Project on Wednesday, April 14 at 12:40 p.m. in the Music Room on the Long Island Campus in Patchogue, NY.

The Innocence Project is a national litigation and public policy organization that advocates for the wrongfully accused and convicted through DNA testing and by reforming the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice. Alan Newton, a death penalty exoneree, and Edwin Grimsley, a case coordinator, will discuss wrongful conviction cases and what The Innocence Project is doing to prevent them. To date, the organization is responsible for the freedom of more than 250 wrongly convicted individuals.

The Criminal Justice Clubs mission is to build friendships and network, as well as educate students and other professors on important topics relating to the justice system. The Club brings guest speakers to the College, and supports educational and career opportunities related to the criminal justice field.
