"I decided to attend St. Joseph's University because the University recognized my academic achievements in high school and offered me a generous scholarship. The scholarship along with the reasonable tuition to a small private Catholic university in close proximity to home aided me in making my decision. The past four years at St. Joseph's flew by so quickly. I have taken advantage of every opportunity St. Joseph's has to offer in terms of my academic major.
"During the last four years I became involved in many extracurricular activities. On campus I was a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and the Service Circle. Off campus I was a four-year member of my local fire department and ambulance service. All of these extracurricular activities have shaped me into a well-rounded member of the University and my home community.
Between my studies at St. Joseph's University and my active volunteerism I know that the future holds a career for me in public service. I want to follow in the footsteps of my grandfather who was the Chief of Police in my hometown.
"If I had to give one reason for a student to choose St. Joseph's University it would be that they aren't just a number. St. Joseph's University treats each student as an individual where your professors and the faculty will know your name.
"Aside from receiving a quality of education, I know I have made connections with my peers and professors that go far beyond the classroom and will continue after graduation."
"You were given this life because you're strong enough to live it."
"The biggest influence on my life has been my mom and dad. Having been born with a genetic disorder and enduring numerous surgical procedures didn't prevent me from having a 'normal' childhood. They helped me to become the person I am today and never let the obstacles prevent me from achieving my dreams."
"I was a member of the Service Circle and have made numerous donations to a variety of charities. Each donation that I make is meaningful to me because I am helping someone in need. I know I have brightened someone’s day with my small gesture."
"The biggest challenge I have had to overcome and still face today is having a genetic disorder. Throughout my life I have experienced so much. However, despite everything that I have been through I wouldn’t change any of it. It has made me the strong independent young woman that I am today."
