"The music department curriculum primarily fulfills human expression core credits and liberal arts requirements, introducing our students to the beauty of a diverse variety of music from all parts of the world, cultures, and people. Coursework prepares students to think critically about the great compositions and songs, and how this appreciation can extend beyond music. Our chorus and instrumental ensemble perform each year, as well as our student-run ensembles, the Sharps and Shockwaves."
Minors that Matter: A minor in music or music history pair well with such majors as journalism and new media studies, studio art, business administration, marketing, child study and criminal justice.
Get Involved Outside the Classroom: Want to take your passion for music to the next level? Consider joining one of our two musical clubs, the Sharps and the Shockwaves. The Drama Club and the Art Club also serve as creative outlets for students.
Expand Your Knowledge: Long Island campus child study majors who declare an area of concentration in music develop a deeper background in music, which they can use as a resource in their future classroom.
