Delve into the world of media and communications. Prepare for a future full of vast career opportunities. Get ready.
Media and communication are the lifeblood of our contemporary culture. The Media Studies major offers an interdisciplinary approach that helps students understand the central role that media play in our social, economic, cultural and political lives — especially in our digital age. Media Studies students also study practices and forms of the media industries, from entertainment and news media, to the emerging trends in new and social media.
This big picture, critical perspective provides students with a practical orientation to our media-saturated world, helping them to effectively navigate the cultural and economic landscape of the 21st century. We combine this theoretical perspective with practical, hands-on production skills to prepare students for a range of professional positions.
Whether you are an entrepreneurial-minded person interested in establishing your own YouTube channel, video podcast, or personal digital brand, or someone intent on entering the field of media entertainment of music, film, television, radio or news media, or even a potential social media and streaming expert serving the healthcare, hospitality, retail or corporate sectors, St. Joseph’s University, New York’s Media Studies Program has you covered.
Internships, volunteer experiences, and our student multimedia club “Studio 155” all give students invaluable opportunities to experience what they learn inside the classroom come to life, all while further enhancing their résumés.
