Institute for Community Health and Wellness

The primary mission of the Institute for Community Health and Wellness is to enhance the health and well-being of individuals, families, organizations and communities across Long Island.

We see health and wellness as issues that cut across other social and economic issues and that intersect with “livability,” and so a distinctive feature of this Institute is that it is situated within a larger center — the Center for Community Solutions — that addresses the overall quality of life on Long Island.

Given our commitment to a comprehensive approach to solving community problems, we understand that solutions require careful and consistent collaboration with health care leaders, community leaders, government officials, educational leaders and community members.  Collaboration and a commitment to transforming communities reside at the heart of St. Joseph's University, so we are eminently qualified to serve as a catalyst to community solutions — particularly within the health care arena.
