BROOKLYN, N.Y. – January 15, 2015 - The Department of Physical Sciences at St. Joseph’s College (SJC), in partnership with the New York Section of the American Chemical Society, is pleased to announce the 20th Annual High School Poster Session, to be held on Saturday, February 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Tuohy Hall Auditorium located on SJC’s Brooklyn Campus. Dr. Carlo Yuvienco will present the keynote address and take questions from the assembled students.
“The College is delighted to once again partner with the New York Section of the American Chemical Society for this year's High School Poster Session," said Dr. Jill Rehmann, executive dean for SJC’s Brooklyn Campus. "As both a scientist and an educator, the dedication, enthusiasm and promise shown by these student-researchers inspires great optimism for the next generation of scientific advances."
The session will showcase more than 100 research projects undertaken by some of the finest young scientific minds in the five boroughs. Judges from both academia and the private sector will evaluate the posters and research. Following deliberations, four students will be selected as winners and receive Barnes & Noble gift cards.
Dr. Carlo Yuvienco holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from New York University and a B.E. in Chemical Engineering from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York. His research focus is currently on the application of engineered protein constructs for drug delivery applications. As the technology to probe and manipulate biophysical matter advances, Yuvienco’s primary goal is to better engineer these biological systems with the complexity and elegance in design necessary to meet these challenges.
This event is free and open to the public. To register or for more information, visit www.sjny.edu/postersession. For professionals interested in serving as a judge, please email [email protected].
