BROOKLYN, N.Y. – January 31, 2017 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC), in partnership with Greenlight Bookstore, is pleased to launch its spring Brooklyn Voices series with author and musician John Darnielle. He will discuss his latest work, Universal Harvester, in conversation with Pulitzer-Prize winning author Donna Tartt on Monday, February 6 at 7:30 p.m. in SJC’s Tuohy Hall Auditorium.
“Our first Brooklyn Voices event of the semester features John Darnielle and Universal Harvester, a thriller staged far away from our urban environs in rural Iowa,” said Barbara Garii, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs at SJC Brooklyn. “I found the book to be compelling and fascinating as it used one's knowledge of place as a starting point into a sorrow-ridden and suspenseful journey into both past and future.”
Darnielle’s first novel, Wolf in White Van, was a New York Times bestseller, National Book Award nominee and a finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for first fiction. He is the writer, composer, guitarist and vocalist for the band The Mountain Goats. Darnielle lives in Durham, North Carolina, with his wife and sons.
Tickets are $28 and include a copy of the book and an opportunity to have it signed. For tickets, visit http://harvester.brownpapertickets.com/. For more information, contact Michael Banach at 718.940.5584 or [email protected].
