September 16, 2016 LI

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – September 16, 2016 – The Council for the Arts at SJC Long Island will host a series of events this fall featuring the work of internationally renowned artist Ejay Weiss. Weiss is SJC Long Island’s fall 2016 Artist in Residence and his work will be on display from October 9 through November 18 in the Board Room Gallery of O’Connor Hall.

An artist reception will take place on Monday, November 14 at 1 p.m. and an artist talk will take place on Tuesday, November 15 at 1 p.m. in the Shea Conference Room. In addition, Weiss will discuss his work, inspired by the splendor of nature and its vast array of organic processes in a series of workshops and talks for SJC students discussing how the second dimension can utilize a global perspective, and the ways critical mass and entropy are embedded within the macro/microcosm of his canvas.

Over the past five decades Weiss’ work has been inspired by nature, physics, evolution and geologic processes. Notable this September, four of his large nine panel 9/11 Elegy: Ghost City series of paintings are currently being featured at the inaugural art exhibition entitled: Rendering the Unthinkable: Artists Respond to 9/11 commemorating the 15th anniversary of 9/11 at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum at Ground Zero in lower Manhattan.

These events are free and open to the public. For more information or to RSVP, contact Anna Malzone at 631.687.1434 or [email protected]

SJC Long Island is located at 155 W. Roe Blvd. in Patchogue, and is accessible via the South Service Road of Sunrise Highway, just east of Exit 52 (Waverly Ave.).
