PATCHOGUE, N.Y. MARCH 4, 2014 St. Josephs College (SJC) and the Town of Huntington LaunchPad Accelerator are pleased to partner for a series of business seminars for tech startups called, "Know the Basics. Hosted by distinguished business technology professionals, the seminar series will cover writing, presentations, entrepreneurships and social media.
"Our newly formed partnership with the Huntington LaunchPad Accelerator provides us with opportunities to assist startups in the tech community, and as such, create opportunities for employment on Long Island and beyond, said Gail Lamberta, Ph.D., associate academic dean on the Long Island Campus of SJC. "This is another exciting partnership for St. Josephs, and we are happy to be a part of such an important initiative.
SJC Business Technology Seminar Series includes:
Monday, March 10 - Using Prezi and Other Cool Tools of the Trade to Enhance a Presentation, presented by Amy Poland, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at SJC. This seminar will teach attendees how to utilize technology to help tell their story beyond PowerPoint. Attendees are encouraged to bring a tablet computer to ensure an interactive learning session.
Thursday, April 24 - Take Charge of Your Business Emails, presented by Richard Kantro, writer, editor, Webmaster and IT project manager. This seminar will help you avoid the pitfalls of errors that occur in everyday business writing and explain why structure really matters and how to close an email with courtesy and assertiveness every time.
Tuesday, May 20 - Developing a Social Media Plan for your Tech Startup, presented by Brian Wasson, training specialist at SJC and an educational technology enthusiast who has been helping educators, adults and students integrate technology into their work and professional lives for the past 18 years. He is an advocate for the careful and thoughtful use of technology and has helped hundreds of educators explore Web 2.0 technologies, as well as social media.
Thursday, June 19 - Ready, Set, Go - Take your Idea and Launch it into a Business, presented by Diane M. Pfadenhauer SPHR, Esq., assistant professor of human resources management at SJC and author of nine books specializing in employment law and human resources.
