Brooklyn-based world music band performance scheduled

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – February 26, 2015 - The Brooklyn Campus Council for the Arts is pleased to announce that it will welcome Brooklyn-based world music band, House of Waters as part of its spring arts series. House of Waters will perform on Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m. in the Tuohy Hall Auditorium.

"The Council for the Arts seeks to provide the community with a diverse range of events across the performing and visual arts landscape, and we can't wait to welcome House of Waters back home to Brooklyn and to our campus," said Stacey Temple, director for the Council for the Arts on the Brooklyn Campus of SJC. "The range of their repertoire, their unique influences and masterful skill truly makes them, as Time Out NY put it, ‘a sight to behold.’"

House of Waters consists of an innovative three-person ensemble that embraces the multi-layered sounds of the world, ignoring limiting definitions and restrictive genres. All virtuosos in their own right, with impressive performance credentials, the band consists of Max ZT (hammered dulcimer), Luke Notary (percussion) and Moto Fukushimo (six-string electric bass). Their unique style is a product of intense collaboration between expert musicians who take risks, cross boundaries and never cease to amaze. They are shape-shifting artists who love music and believe its power is infectious. House of Waters is taking their instruments to places unimagined and bringing their audiences along with them.

SJC’s Council for the Arts is a coalition of students, faculty members and staff who serve as a focal point for the College’s educational and community outreach programming in the arts.
