The ACES Program Experience

ACES is an intensive reading and writing learning community for high-achieving immigrant students for whom English is a new language.

As an ACES student, you’ll take for-credit reading and writing courses that will help sharpen your English skills and provide the confidence you’ll need for success in college and beyond.

The ACES Program also offers academic support outside of the classroom in the form of one-on-one tutoring and advising from faculty and staff members during your time at St. Joseph’s. We’ll even help you with career counseling and guide you through the graduate school admissions process.

Additionally, ACES students can take advantage of fantastic cultural opportunities, such as outings to Broadway shows, BAM (Brooklyn Academy of Music), MoMA (Metropolitan Museum of Art) and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. You’ll connect with your classmates while exploring the vibrancy that is New York City through these experiences.

Each ACES student receives educational and social assistance, professional guidance, and a minimum award of $15,000 annually, bringing the cost of a private college education within your reach.

For more information about the ACES Program, please contact Emily Cementina, ACES assistant director, at [email protected].

“The ACES program helped me become a successful college student in different ways. The small class sizes help me better understand the lessons and help I receive in the drafting process for papers makes it easier for me to revise my work.”
