July 13, 2015

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – July 14, 2015 - St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it will partner with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce’s Health Care Committee and the Brooklyn Hospital Center to host the “Health Happening” networking event on Thursday, July 16, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at SJC’s Hill Center in Brooklyn. Popular radio personality, fitness enthusiast and Brooklyn native Angela Yee will serve as the featured speaker.

"We’re delighted to partner with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce to host this event and showcase the College’s health care administration department, as well as our new four-year nursing program," said Dr. Lauren Pete, chairperson and associate professor of health care administration at SJC. “The College has a deep commitment to improving the quality of health care in the communities it serves, and our partnership with both the committee and this event enables us to fulfill this.”

The event, which is free and open to the public, will provide attendees with a chance to mingle with industry professionals, discuss recent developments in Brooklyn’s health care landscape, and learn about how partnering with both the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and SJC can generate new opportunities for health care organizations and companies.

“Health care is one of the largest and most significant industries in Brooklyn, and it will only expand as our borough continues to flourish," said Carlo A. Scissura, president and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. "The Chamber created the Health Care Committee and organizes events like ‘Health Happening’ to help the sector grow and provide the highest quality service to residents. Healthy Brooklynites mean healthy Brooklyn businesses, which equates to a healthy Brooklyn overall, and that's what the Chamber is all about."

"The Brooklyn Hospital Center is a proud member of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Health Care Committee and recognizes the contributions of Ms. Angela Yee to the borough of Brooklyn," said Leroy R. Charles, vice president of external affairs at The Brooklyn Hospital Center.

The mission of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Health Care Committee is to promote programs and interventions that help improve the health and wellness of Brooklyn residents through effective strategies, advocacy, education and support. The Committee is dedicated to maximizing representation of the Chamber’s health-related businesses and organizations.
