BROOKLYN, N.Y. – September 21, 2017 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC), in partnership with Greenlight Bookstore, is pleased to announce that it will welcome Jeffrey Eugenides to present his latest work, Fresh Complaint, in conversation with Ruth Franklin on Monday, October 2 at 7:30 p.m. in SJC Brooklyn’s Tuohy Hall Auditorium.
“With his critically acclaimed novels, Jeffrey Eugenides has established himself as one of the most insightful commentators on American life in the literary world,” said Michael Hanophy, Ph.D., interim executive dean at SJC Brooklyn. “I am looking forward to welcoming him on campus to discuss his recent foray into the medium of short stories and to see how this gift has manifested itself in this medium.”
Eugenides’s best-selling novels have shown him to be an astute observer of the crises of adolescence, self-discovery, family love and what it means to be American in our times. The stories in Fresh Complaint explore equally rich and intriguing territory. Narratively compelling and packed with a density of ideas despite their fluid grace, these stories chart the development and maturation of a major American writer.
Tickets for this event are $30 and include a copy of the book. Following the discussion, there will be an opportunity to have the book signed by Eugenides. To RSVP, click here.
