Brooklyn Voices Presents Teju Cole

BROOKLYN, N.Y. –  The Department of Journalism and New Media Studies at SJC Brooklyn, in partnership with Greenlight Bookstore, is pleased to announce that it will welcome novelist Teju Cole to discuss his latest work, Blind Spot, in conversation with Ben Lerner on Wednesday June 14, at 7:30 p.m. in SJC Brooklyn’s Tuohy Hall Auditorium.

"A distinguished alum of the Brooklyn Voices lecture series, Teju Cole is one of the most compelling contemporary writers in the literary scene," said Barbara Garii, Ph.D., vice president of academic affairs, SJC Brooklyn. "I look forward to seeing how his unique voice transitions from the written word to a visual medium with his new book at the final event of this spring's Brooklyn Voices series."

From the shadow of a tree in upstate New York, to a hotel room in Switzerland, to a young stranger in the Congo, readers follow Teju Cole's inimitable artistic vision into the visual realm, as he continues to refine the voice and intellectual obsessions that have earned him such acclaim for his fiction and commentary. In more than 150 pairs of images and surprising, lyrical text, Cole explores his complex relationship to the visual world through his two great passions of writing and photography, creating a testament to the art of seeing by one of the most powerful and original voices in contemporary literature.
