Dillon Center to Host Sunfest for Children and Families

April 24, 2015

The Dillon Child Study Center at St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it will host Sunfest, a family-friendly event for children and families, on Saturday, May 30 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Center in Brooklyn.

“The Dillon Center provides a play-based, child-centered environment that is committed to the education of young children,” said Susan Shapiro, director of the Dillon Child Study Center. “This event will showcase the opportunities that we provide and the great work of SJC students and the Dillon Center staff.”

The Dillon Child Study Center was established in 1934 by former SJC president Msgr. William T. Dillon. As one of the first campus laboratory preschools on the East Coast, the Center affirmed the importance of the early childhood years in a young child’s development. To this day, it serves as a model and demonstration program for SJC students and professionals interested in the field of early childhood education.

The event will be held rain or shine and will feature pony rides, a mini carousel, arts and crafts, face painting, games, music and other children's activities. The cost is $20 per family. For more information, contact Susan Shapiro at 718.940.5678 or [email protected]

In addition, the Center offers a variety of summer programs for children, including a gymnastics workshop, Super Soccer Stars program and a mini musicals workshop.  Dates and prices vary. For more information, call 718.940.5678.

The Dillon Child Study Center is located at 239 Vanderbilt Avenue between DeKalb and Waverly in Brooklyn.
