SJC Brooklyn to Host Spring Centennial Lecture Series

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – January 11, 2017 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce the Spring Centennial Lecture Series at SJC Brooklyn.  As part of its Centennial celebration, these events celebrate the century-long history of academic excellence at SJC and honor distinguished faculty whose lives and service impacted the College.

“As we bring our Centennial year to a close, we are proud to showcase our faculty as they share their scholarship with our students and the community,” said Barbara Garii, Ph.D., vice president for academic affairs at SJC Brooklyn. “Their work embodies the commitment to academic excellence that has guided this institution since its founding over a century ago.”

The lecture series includes:

• Tuesday, January 31 at 7 p.m.: The S. Mary Beatrice Schenller and S. Mary Maier Centennial Lecture in the Sciences with Michael J. Hanophy, Ph.D., professor of biology, Microbiology and the First World War: A Centennial Perspective.
• Tuesday, February 28 at 7 p.m.: The S. Joan de Lourdes Leonard, S. Joseph Damion Hanlon and S. Teresa Avila Burke Centennial Lecture in History with Quincy R. Lehr, Ph.D., associate professor of history, Insurgent Politics and the Two-Party System.
• Thursday, March 30 at 7 p.m.: The Sister Rosamond O’Keefe Centennial Lecture in Psychology with Peter Lin, Ph.D., associate professor of psychology, Zen Mind, Therapist’s Mind: Integration of Zen and Psychotherapy.
• Thursday, April 20 at 7 p.m.: The Dr. Margaret Jennings and Professor Louise S. Rose Centennial Lecture in English with Judith Phagan, D.A, associate professor of English and department chair, The Disability Narrative in American Literature: A Centennial Perspective.
