BROOKLYN, N.Y. November 5, 2013 St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it will partner with NBC News to provide its students with a first-hand perspective on the news industry and position them for careers in the media. This event, which is free and open to the public and will take place on Wednesday, November 13 at 12:30 p.m., was planned in conjunction with the NBC News Leadership Development Project.

"This is a really unique and exciting opportunity for SJC students to meet with and learn from some of the leading professionals in the news business, said Dr. Theodore Hamm, chairperson of the Department of Journalism and New Media Studies at SJC.

The goal of the NBC News Leadership Development Project is to recruit the next generation of talent as well as increase the number of students from underrepresented groups in the newsroom. At this event, members of NBCs news team will discuss their job duties and the expertise, talents and technological skills they developed in order to earn their positions. Following this, NBC mentors will engage students individually and discuss their goals and career objectives, providing them with advice and guidance.

This event will be held in the Student Lounge of Tuohy Hall located at St. Josephs College, 245 Clinton Avenue, Brooklyn, N.Y. For more information about this event, please contact Dr. Hamm at 718.940.5307 or visit www.sjny.edu.
