BROOKLYN, N.Y. – March 31, 2020 – The Writer’s Foundry at SJC Brooklyn, in partnership with Greenlight Bookstore, is pleased to announce that Tariq Shah ’19 will discuss his debut novel Whiteout Conditions in conversation with Writer’s Foundry director Lee Clay Johnson via webinar on Tuesday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m.
“Tariq Shah has written a debut novel that contains both mystery and inevitability,” said Lee Clay Johnson, director of The Writer’s Foundry at SJC Brooklyn. “I'm thrilled to interview him about this accomplishment; come join us and bring along some questions of your own.”
Shah’s Whiteout Conditions follows Ant, who is in Chicago for a funeral. Since most of his family has passed away, he finds himself attracted to the endearing qualities of funerals until the tragic death of his childhood friend. With a poet’s sensibility, Shah navigates the murky responsibilities of adulthood, grief, toxic masculinity and the tragedy of revenge in this haunting Midwestern noir.
The webinar is free and open to the public. To register, click here. For more information about The Writer’s Foundry, contact 718.940.5317 or [email protected].
