Brooklyn Voices Welcomes Kathy Valentine

April 16, 2020

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – April 16, 2020 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC), in partnership with Greenlight Bookstore, is pleased to announce that Kathy Valentine, Go-Go's bassist, will discuss her memoir, All I Ever Wanted: A Rock and Roll Memoir, in conversation with Lizz Winstead, co-creator of “The Daily Show,” via webinar on Monday, April 20 at 7:30 p.m.

“Our commitment to interesting discourse remains steadfast even during these trying times,” said Raymond D'Angelo, Ph.D., interim executive dean and professor of sociology at SJC Brooklyn. “Our lecture series continues virtually and we hope you are able to enjoy this upcoming event with reckless enthusiasm.”

The Go-Go’s became the first multi-platinum-selling, all-female band to play instruments themselves, write their own songs and have a number one album. For bassist Kathy Valentine, the band’s success was the fulfillment of a lifelong dream—but it’s only part of her story. Her new memoir, All I Ever Wanted: A Rock 'n' Roll Memoir, traces the path that took her from her childhood in Texas to the height of stardom and the quest to regain her sense of self after its end. Valentine takes the virtual stage for a music-infused talk about her book and the challenges of women in entertainment.
