SJC Brooklyn Announces Fall Centennial Lecture Series

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – September 6, 2016 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce the fall Centennial Lecture Series at SJC Brooklyn. Launched in the spring of 2016 to celebrate the long tradition of academic inquiry and scholarship at SJC, these events honor distinguished faculty who impacted the College through their examples and teaching.

The lecture series is free and open to public. The following lectures will take place at 7 p.m. in the Student Lounge of SJC Brooklyn’s Tuohy Hall.

• The Dr. Stanley Nevins Centennial Lecture in the Humanities – Tuesday, September 20 – Winning Messages? An Investigation of Parent/Child Communications in the World of Youth Athletics, presented by Joseph Ross, Ph.D., associate professor of communication studies at SJC Brooklyn.
• The S. Alice Francis Young and S. Margaret Buckley Centennial Lecture in Education – Thursday, October 27 – Special Education: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, presented by Susan Straut-Collard, Ph.D., professor, associate chair and director of SJC Brooklyn’s Special Education Program.
• The Professor Josephine Belloso and Dr. Robert Radus Centennial Lecture in Fine Arts – Wednesday, November 30 – Creating “Stage Presence”: Lessons from Martial Arts and Theatre Anthropology, presented by William Trevino, associate professor of communication studies at SJC Brooklyn.
