BROOKLYN, N.Y. – October 10, 2014 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to announce that the Hon. Elizabeth Bonina (Ret.) was recently named by the New York Law Journal as New York State’s top arbitrator for the second consecutive year. A lecturer of business law, Bonina has been teaching a range of legal courses at SJC’s Brooklyn Campus since 2004.
Bonina was also listed as one of the State’s top 10 mediators by the Journal for the fifth year in a row. As a former Justice of the Supreme Court, Kings County, she has experience facilitating the settlement of personal injury, premises liability, labor law, sports and recreation, and employment law cases.
"On behalf of the College community, I congratulate Elizabeth on her selection as New York State's top arbitrator for the second consecutive year,” said Dr. Jill Rehmann, interim executive dean for SJC’s Brooklyn Campus. "She embodies the College's commitment to having the highest caliber of faculty to teach its students, and we are fortunate to have her talents and dedication among our community of learners."
In addition to her position as an adjunct professor of business law and sports law at SJC, Bonina is currently an arbitrator and mediator at National Arbitration and Mediation. Since 2010, she has been ranked as one of the top 10 mediators in New York State in the New York Law Journal's reader rankings survey. Bonina earned a bachelor's degree from Villanova University, and a juris doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School. She co-chairs the Alternative Dispute Resolution committee of the Brooklyn Bar Association and is a member of the board of directors of the Bay Ridge Lawyers Association.
